US Streaming service MAX has released a new trailer for the much-anticipated spin-off to ‘The Batman’ film, ‘The Penguin‘ starring Colin Farrell, which premieres this September on MAX in the USA and on Sky in the UK.
Starring Farrell as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot (aka “The Penguin”), the eight-episode DC Studios drama series continues ‘The Batman’ epic crime saga that filmmaker Matt Reeves began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster and centres on the character played by Farrell in the film.
The new trailer sees “Oz” attempting to “call the shots” following the demise of crime boss Carmine Falcone. However, it appears the rest of the Falcone family are not going to let things go without a fight… The new trailer highlights much more of Carmine’s daughter Sofia (Cristin Milioti – ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘Fargo’), and son Alberto (Michael Zegen – ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’). We also see more of Clancy Brown (‘Billions’, ‘Ahsoka’, ‘Gen V’) as mob boss Salvatore Maroni, and Michael Kelly (‘Jack Ryan’, ‘House of Cards’) as Falcone underboss, Johnny Vitti. Meanwhile, “Oz” is aided by Victor Aguilar, his teenage driver, played by Rhenzy Feliz (‘Encanto’, ‘Runaways’.)
They are joined by Shohreh Aghdashloo (‘The Expanse’, ’24’) as Nadia Maroni, Scott Cohen (‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘Allegiance’, ‘Necessary Roughness’) as Luca Falcone, Deirdre O’Connell (‘Outer Range’, ‘The Affair’) as Francis Cob, Theo Rossi (‘Luke Cage’, ‘Sons of Anarchy’) as Dr. Julian Rush, and Carmen Ejogo (‘I’m a Virgo’, ‘True Detective’, ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films) as Eve Karlo.
Based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, ‘The Penguin’ is produced by Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Reeves and 6th & Idaho are under an overall deal. The series is executive-produced by Reeves, Dylan Clark, Farrell, Bill Carraro and Daniel Pipski. Lauren LeFranc (‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘Chuck’, ‘Impulse’) is writer and showrunner. Craig Zobel (‘Mare of Easttown’, ‘Westworld’, ‘The Leftovers’) directs the first three episodes.
